When Hollywood executives run out of fresh and original ideas they turn to past movies or shows for inspiration. Well, it seems that many reboots of past beloved shows are on their way to our TVs. Here are a few reboots coming our way that we’re super excited about!
- Gossip Girl
SPOTTED: A new generation of New York private school teens are being introduced to Gossip Girl’s society. The reboot is set eight years after the original show’s conclusion, and will follow a new batch of bratty rich kids, who are definitely up to some scandalous things. But we wonder who will reign as the new Queen of the Upper East Side?
- Daria (Jodie)
Everyone’s favorite Daria is coming back to MTV! The spinoff will follow Jodie, Daria’s close friend, a fan favorite from the original series, as she graduates and joins the “real world.” The show will have a diverse cast and plenty of complex and ambitious female characters.
Clueless is coming back, but this time the spotlight is on Dionne Davenport. Besides following iconic pop culture moments as covered in the original show, we get to experience the pressure Dionne faces as the new it girl at school, as well as the unraveling of the mystery of what happened to her best friend.
Nickelodeon has shared a first look of the gang, Tommy, Chunky, Phil and Susie, from the original beloved cartoon, Rugrats. Featuring CGI characters, the new 26-episode season of the Rugrats is the first Nickelodeon reboot coming to life.
- Pretty Little Liars (PLL)
A new generation of PLL is officially on its way. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will center around an entirely new generation of disparate teen girls who find themselves tormented by an unknown assailant and are made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades earlier. The reboot is described as a “dark and horror” drama.
“So wake up the members of my nation”, because the classic Nickelodeon show iCarly is getting a reboot! And guess what? The beloved original cast members are returning! The popular series, which first premiered in 2007, followed a trio of best friends who created a webcast while grappling with everyday problems and adventures.
- True Blood
Ready yourself for another round of the most scandalous show about vampires! True Blood is coming back, bloodier and juicier than ever, this time at the hands of Riverdale boss, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. HBO has declined to comment yet on whether the show’s original cast will be returning.
Netflix is doing a live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender Series, and fans are excited, but worried, particularly those who miss Aang’s wisdom, humor and flaming-hot dance moves! After looking at the series’ poster, it seems that the series will cover the same ground as the original and will follow Aang’s quest, along with his friends Katara and Sokka, to save the world from Fire Lord Ozai.
- Fate: The Winx Saga
Now we have hyper super-realistic Riverdale spinoffs that aren’t actually realistic because they feature teenagers with superpowers. This reboot follows the adventures of teenage “fairy warrior” Bloom and her friends as they navigate the Alfea college, their magical boarding school. The trailer is already out, and we’re very excited because it looks like it’s edgier and darker than we even imagined. The series will air on Netflix starting January 22nd, 2021.
- The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Attention 90s babies! The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has a reboot in the works. At their reunion, the show’s cast teased fans on Instagram with very emotional posts that showed that, while 30 years have passed, not much has really changed. The reboot will focus on what it means to be a black man in America, today.
