It’s heartbreaking to see one of CW’s biggest TV shows coming to an end. The Vampire Diaries’ 8th season has been confirmed to be its last. Premiering on the 21st of October, these news will bring an end to our fascinating journey with Damon and Stefan. Despite Nina Dobrev’s departure in Season 7 and how angry the fans were, the People’s Choice and Teen Choice Award-winning show had remained entrenched in our minds. Indeed, the show’s plot and climactic sequences remained formidable despite Nina’s departure. Many rumors are swirling around that Nina might return for Season 8 which means her character, Elena, might wake up from her coma, leaving us to think about what’s going to happen with Bonnie, played by Kat Graham.
The upcoming season will be comprised of a mere 16 episodes, a reduction over the show’s customary 22 episode format. Its episodes will pay homage to the show’s First Season, as they will all be entitled with lines that were said during the inaugural season. What’s more, showrunner Julie Plec has also said that the show might witness a crossover with the spin-off TV show “The Originals”; so be prepared for the probability of a Klaus and Caroline reunion.
It’s going to be really hard for us to wave goodbye to the show and its remarkably lovable characters. We’re consoled, though, by the fact that there’s one more thrilling ride left to come for The Vampire Diaries. The show’s cast recorded an emotional, tear-jerking video to commemorate the show’s run and to announce that this is the final season. All good things do come to an end.
