Cannes film Festival

The Looks We Loved

The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival took place from May 14th to 25th at Palais des Festivals. This annual film festival, held in Cannes, France, brought together the greatest talents that the entertainment industry has to offer for over a week of screenings and previews of films of all genres from all around the world.

Cannes Film Festival is known to be the most glamorous of the prestigious film festivals, boasting a very strict dress code. Women are prohibited from wearing flat shoes, and even the paparazzi are asked to wear tuxedos to merely cover the red carpet. As a result, the Cannes Film Festival red carpet is truly a fashion spectacle to behold.

Here are the best looks from the extravagant festival, which one is your favourite?

Nadine Labaki

The famous Lebanese director, Nadine Labaki, effortlessly rocked the red carpet in this asymmetrical off-the-shoulder electric blue crepe dress from Elie Saab’s SS 19’ Haute Couture Collection.

This look is the true meaning of simplicité fait beauté (simplicity is beauty).

Isabeli Fontana

Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana looked absolutely stunning in these sunset hues. The shimmery dress was designed by the young Lebanese designer Ali Younes.

We also love how it was styled with this necklace, hairstyle and, of course, the gorgeous gold sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti. Well done, the entire look is stunning!

Aja Naomi King

American actress Aja Naomi King shone like a princess in this multi-layered tulle dress by Zac Posen.

The colour was a perfect choice for her skin tone and the simple make-up, hair style and simple jewelry really complemented the look. Chapeau!

Araya Hargate

Thai actress Araya Hargate looked as beautiful as a princess in a fairytale in this powder blue corset gown by Versace.

Shades of light blue aren’t usually the most flattering when it comes to haute couture; but the mix of dimensional pastel floral pieces, created an elegant flutter and the details in the corset added gown’s richness.

The wavy hairstyle, the simple sandals and the Chopard waterfall earrings were also a great choice.

Carole Samaha

It can’t get redder than this!

Lebanese singer Carole Samaha looked ravishing in this red mermaid dress by Azzi & Osta.

The cut enhanced her body shape, while the hairstyle and Chopard diamond jewelry added an extra wow to the whole aesthetic.

Helen Mirren

The timeless English actress, Helen Mirren, made a perfect choice with this gold embellished metallic dress by Elie Saab partnered with Chopard jewellery.

We can’t get enough of her pink hair! Styled by Stephane Lancien, it added the pizzazz that put this look to the top.

Julianne Moore

American actress Julianne Moore was radiant in an emerald green strapless silk chiffon dress by Dior.

The cut gracefully complemented her body shape and this shade of green simultaneously flattered her skin tone and went perfectly with her hair colour.

This is what we call Less is More.

Diana Penty

Indian model and actress Diana Penty stole the show with this strapless layered gown by Nedret Taciroglu.

The fabric embellishments and feather work in the dress created a lavish look. And we love how she simply styled her hair, and wore minimalistic jewellery by Grisogono that highlighted her gorgeous makeup.

Glamorous, classy and elegant.

Leomie Anderson

The English model and 2019 Victoria’s Secret Angel, Leomie Anderson, gave us something spectacular in this custom strapless bodysuit by Rami Kadi.

Spot-on with the hand-embroidered metallic Plexi-Glass, and the ruffled extravagant train. The ‘Odessa’ heels from Jimmy Choo added the perfect final touch.

Camila Coelho

Brazilian blogger Camila Coelho chose a traditional red-carpet dress, with a long train made of antique pink silk by Georges Hobeika.

The strapless, fully embroidered nude dress created the perfect aura of classical elegance. Styled with a classical bun, and a simple parure of Boucheron jewels, the look was to die for.
