Somabay Golf Earns GEO International Sustainability Certificate
Somabay Golf Course proudly becomes the first in Egypt, and one of only four in Africa, to achieve the prestigious GEO International Sustainability Certificate. This landmark recognition underscores Somabay’s dedication to environmental responsibility, community engagement, and resource efficiency, solidifying its position as a premier sports destination.
The GEO Certificate sets rigorous global standards for sports facilities, focusing on biodiversity, resource conservation, and proactive climate actions. Somabay Golf excelled by implementing modern irrigation systems, using water-efficient grass like Seashore Paspalum, and relying on solar energy for desalination and wastewater treatment. These initiatives not only demonstrate Somabay’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, community values, and sustainable development in Egypt and beyond, but also how it offers an exceptional experience with its 18-hole championship course, designed by the legendary Gary Player.
