Without a doubt, yesterday was a disappointing day in the entertainment world with the Egyptian superstar singer with a phenomenal voice announcing that she was retiring and would not be singing any more. In a voice message, Shereen, who has millions of fans, said that she hoped her fans wouldn’t be upset by her decision, but rather would be as happy for her as she was with her decision. We count ourselves as avid long time fans of this extraordinary performer, and can’t help but feel sad about her sudden departure from the music scene. We will never forget what Shereen has given to the entertainment industry over the past 16 years. Here are what eniGma’s Yosra Shohayeb and Mohi El Din consider the seven milestones in Shereen’s journey to stardom:
1- Shereen’s duet with Mohamed Mohi, 2001
Shereen’s first step in the music industry was her duet with the singer Mohamed Mohi in his album Sura we Dam3a . The song she sang with him was Bahebak. It was a great success and everyone was eager to know the woman behind the beautiful new voice.

2- Free Mix 3 with Tamer Hosny, 2002
This is one of the most famous albums for Shereen and is also her first album ever in collaboration with the prominent singer Tamer Hosny. The album was produced by Nasr Mahrous, the producer who had discovered Shereen. The album included one of Shereen’s most well-known songs, Ah ya Leil, which also counts as her first video clip. The song was so massively successful that fans started to call her, Shereen Ah Ya Leil. In this album, Shereen worked with some of the biggest names to date in the music industry.

3- Garh Tany Album, 2003
This was Shereen’s first album by herself, and it was an enormous hit. The album competed strongly with Amr Diab’s album Alem Alby, which was released at the same time.

4- Mido Mashakel Movie, 2003
Mido Mashakel was Shereen’s first acting experience along with comedians Ahmed Helmy and Hassan Hosny. She’s not very fond of it, till today.

5- Moving to Rotana Company, 2008
Despite her great success with Nasr Mahrous, who, Shereen admits, had a big role in her rise to stardom, Shereen signed with the prominent record production company, Rotana in 2008. She released three albums with Rotana, including Esa’al Alaya, Batamenak, and Habeet. Nevertheless, Shereen’s last album, Ana Keteer, released in ( year) was with another company, Negoum Records.

6- The Voice Ahla Sawt, 2012
We are sure that everyone is familiar with the Arabic version of the international show, The Voice or Ahla Sawt. The show is about discovering the best voices in the Arab world. Shereen was a judge on the show along with superstars, Kadhim El Sahir, Saber Rubai, and Assi El Helani. While Some of Shereen’s behaviour on the show raised a bit of controversy, most of her fans loved her sense of humor on the show. Shereen’s team won The Voice, Season Three, with the Jordanian singer Nidaa Sharara.

7- Tareeky TV Series, 2015
The Ramadan 2015 series Tareeky was Shereen’s second acting experience and her first TV series ever. Unlke Mido Mashakel, the series was very successful and Shereen received much acclaim for her acting performance.
