Yes, you’ve heard correctly! Selena Gomez has just signed on to collaborate with Coach Inc. creative director Stuart Vevers, making her their latest – and possibly best – asset. For those of you unfamiliar with Coach, it’s a luxury accessory brand. They’ve recently signed a $10-million deal with Selena Gomez to make her the new face of the brand – (who better, right?).
Following a rough few years, Coach decided to sign on Gomez in the hopes that they could give the brand a facelift and so they could upgrade their products to target a much younger audience, as well as reclaim their status among luxury brands. Good call, Vevars!
Selena Gomez is extremely well-known for previously being a Disney Channel star, then going on to become one of the most renowned singers in the U.S. and the most popular celebrity on Instagram (for the second year in a row!). Loved by all her fans, and known for her innocent charm and poise, there is really no one else that would be better fitting to become the new face of Coach.
She shared a post on her Instagram account (@selenagomez) with the caption, “Being able to create is my favorite thing in the whole world. I’m so excited I get to be a part of the vision and family @coach AND I get the honor to design with @stuartvevars –ahhhhhh,” – proving to us that she is just as excited as the rest of us about her upcoming collab! Her input is predicted to be a huge leap for the 75-year-old brand, introducing a new contemporary aspect for Coach as opposed to their previous reputation as a somewhat old-fashioned brand.
Gomez is said to be designing a line of handbags alongside Stuart Vevers. We’ve already seen a sneak peek via Coach’s Instagram account, showing that her designs will be monogrammed with her initials “SG”. She will also be appearing in several of Coach’s ad campaigns starting Fall 2017.
As if that’s not already enough, Gomez is also going to be contributing to “Step Up”, a national non-profit organization that works with Coach to empower younger girls who are from under-resourced urban communities. After recently being in rehab for dealing with depression and anxiety, post a Lupus diagnosis, it comes as no shock that Selena’s comeback would entail a mission as rewarding as this one.
With news of this collaboration, and other rumours about Selena being back in the studio, it looks like she already has good prospects for the New Year after her three-month break from the world. Needless to say, we absolutely can’t wait to see what comes next!
