Remedies For Dark Circles That Actually Work

There are several factors that can create dark circles under our eyes. The most common one is a lack of sleep, which we can all confidently say we suffer from because of our constant struggle between wanting to have a life and working long hours. Even when we try to make up for our lost hours of sleep during the weekend, we never end up looking as rested as we want to.

Rather than constantly opting for makeup as a cover-up for dark circles – even though it’s easier to go for quick fixes – try these natural remedies and face masks for a more permanent solution to the problem.

Almond Oil

This is a great solution for dark circles. Apply it under your eyes and massage properly into the skin a few times a week. Sleep with the oil on, and rinse your face in the morning.

Coconut Oil

This oil is serious magic, and it fixes everything. Rub some coconut oil under your eyes and massage it well into the skin. Sleep with it on and then rinse it off when you wake up.

Tomatoes/Tomato Juice

Tomatoes are a highly effective solution for lightening skin. You can either rub half of a fresh tomato directly on your dark circles, or use tomato juice. Mix some lemon juice with tomato juice for added benefits and apply that under your eyes. Leave this mixture on for about 15 minutes. Then, rinse it off.

Tea Bags

These work well for dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Allow the tea bags to chill after being soaked in hot water (green tea or black tea bags, both work). Apply the cold tea bags to your eyes and let them rest for about 15 minutes.

Coffee & Olive Oil Face Mask

This mask gets rid of the appearance of tired skin, and brightens up dark circles. Mix some ground coffee beans with a spoon or two of olive oil to create a paste. Apply this mixture to your entire face, not just under your eyes. Keep it on for about 20 minutes, and then, rinse it off.

Turmeric, Yogurt and Honey Face Mask

Turmeric has properties that help minimise dark circles, while the yogurt and honey work to exfoliate and moisturise the skin. Mix some yogurt with two spoons of honey and a spoon of turmeric; then, apply this to your whole face and leave it on for 20 minutes. But after you rinse this mask off, make sure you wipe your face with a toner, because the turmeric may leave a yellow tint on the skin that requires a toner or cleanser to remove.

Always remember that the best way to use these remedies to your advantage is to make sure that you repeat them daily, or at least two to three times a week, to see results. Don’t give up if they don’t erase dark circles right away. Be patient; take care of your skin, and you will soon erase all those traces of fatigue.
