Recreate Jennifer Lopez’s Makeup Look

It would never hurt to look like Jennifer Lopez, would it? Or even just a little tiny bit like her. For years, we’ve admired the way she totally glams herself up, but this year at the People’s Choice Awards, she has seriously outdone herself – we are in absolute awe of how utterly stunning this makeup look was. JLo, we love to admire you but sort of hate you for giving us goals that we might never reach. To that end, here is a way (call it a sad attempt, if you will) to recreate her look, with all the tricks you need to slay it!

Brows

Eyebrows definitely set the frame for the rest of the face. Fill in your eyebrows (not too heavily, though) with MAC Brow Duo powder and set it with a clear eyebrow gel/mascara of your choice.

Skin

Skin is everything. Can’t you see how she literally glows? The trick to get that perfect bronze glow is to mix a little bit of liquid illuminator and liquid bronzer (if needed) with your foundation, so that your skin has a natural glow that will make you seem like you spend your daily life lying by the beach somewhere.

Add MAC’s Strobe Cream and Benefit Cosmetics’ Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer to your favourite foundation and you’re set.

Contour

So, most of us can only dream of having insanely chiselled cheekbones and sharp jawlines, but at least contour gives us a fair chance. Use L’Oréal Infallible Sculpt Contour Palette to enhance your cheekbones.

Eyes

This is where all the magic happens. You need to do what is called an “eye contour”, using shimmery eye shadows.

Use a shimmery, champagne eye shadow to highlight the brow bone, the inner corners of your eyes and the centre of your eyelids. Blend a slightly darker bronze all over the eyelids.

Using an even darker shade of either burgundy (for an extra boost to the look) or brown shimmery eye shadow, smoke it out! Blend that into the crease of your eyelids and upwards slightly towards the highlighted brow bone. Also, apply this dark shade on your lower lash line.

Use L’Oréal Colour Riche La Palette Nude

Apply black pencil eyeliner along the upper lash line, and on your waterline. You can enhance this with liquid eyeliner if you want to.

Then, apply LOTS of mascara, or for the full JLo effect; fake lashes!

Lips

Outline your lips with a lip liner similar to the shade of lipstick or slightly darker, and use L’Oréal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Toasted Almond 843. This is a creamy lipstick, so it won’t go on matte – it will be slightly glossy, but even if you’re used to matte lipstick, you should try this out because it looks much better than you think. Lopez is the obvious case in point.

While we weren’t all born looking like JLo, from time to time, it’s okay to try recreating her looks, while praying that we end up looking half as good as she does. Try it out!
