Ramadan has many traditions that bring joy to the hearts of Egyptian families, and watching the month’s TV series is at the top of that list. This year a slew of interesting options awaits us, some are sequels to beloved drama originals, while others are brand new ideas. Here is a list of the major comedy, drama and action TV series heading to your screens this Ramadan.
Atabat Al Bahga
(Doorway To Happiness)
After a two-year absence, Yehia El-Fakharany returns to the Ramadan lineup with a family drama series, Atabat Al Bahga, that deals with various social issues through the relationship between a grandfather and his grandchildren. The star studded cast includes Jumana Mourad, Salah Abdallah, Hanady Mehanna, Hesham Ismail, and Laila Ezz El-Arab.
Al Hashasheen
(The Order of Assassins)
Karim Abdelaziz returns to the silver screen with Al Hashasheen, the biography of Hassan Al Sabah, the fearsome leader of a group of assassins in the Middle Ages who went after political and military figures serving their own agenda. The cast of the series portraying Hassan Al Sabah’s rapid rise to power includes Fathy Abdel Wahab, Ahmed Eid, and Nicolas Mouawad, alongside Karim Abdelaziz.
Ahmed El Sakka is joining the Ramadan race with his new social drama filled with action scenes. Al Atawla narrates the rivalry between two brothers, played by Ahmed El Sakka and Tarek Lotfy, showing how far each of them is willing to go to achieve his own goals. The cast includes Bassem Samra, Zeina, and Salah Abdallah. The last time Ahmed El Sakka and Tarek Lotfy worked together was in the iconic hit Se’edi Fil Gamaa Al Amrekiya (A Southern Man in the American University) over 20 years ago.
Emberatoriet Meem
(Empire of Meem)
Emberatoriet Meem is a new Ramadan series featuring both Khaled and Nour El Nabawy in father and son roles. Based on the novel by Ihsan Abdel Quddous, the series tells the story of a father and his rebellious sons who want to hold an election to decide who gets to rule the household. This is the second collaboration between Khaled El Nabawy and director Mohamed Salama. Their first joint project was Rageen Ya Hawa (We are Returning Love), which was a great success.
After a successful melodramatic performance last year in Omla Nadra, Nelly Karim returns to the world of comedy in Ramadan 2024 with her new series, Farawla. The series narrates the story of Farawla who, through fortunetelling, turns into a famous influencer. The cast includes comedy veterans Hagag Abdel Azim, Shimaa Seif, Ola Roshdy, and Ahmed Faheem.
Bedoon Sabek Enzar
(Without Prior Notice)
Asser Yassin and Aïcha Ben Ahmed star together for the first time in the new Ramadan series, Bedoon Sabek Enzar. This social drama discusses the story of a husband and wife whose six-year-old son, Omar, is diagnosed with cancer and needs an urgent bone marrow transfer. The parents’ stressful journey in search of a donor tests their relationship and the bond they have with their son.
Seed Al Akareb
(Hunting Scorpions)
After her outstanding performance in Hadath Bel Fael, Ghada Abdel Razek joins the Ramadan lineup with her new series Seed Al Akareb. Abdel Razek portrays a rebellious character who shuns traditions as she seeks revenge from the family who murdered her brother. The cast includes a number of big names including Ahmed Maher, Reyad Al Kholi, Simone, Manal Salama, and Ahmed Said Abd El Ghany.
Beet El Refai
(House of El Refai)
Amir Karara and Ahmed Rizq are set to test their chemistry in the new series Beet El Refai this Ramadan. The classic drama portrays an intense conflict between siblings regarding their inheritance, which their father refuses to split between them, insisting that they should share everything. The cast includes Malak Koura, Sayed Ragab, Mohamed Lotfy, Ayda Riyad, and Merna Gameel.
Eyad Nassar joins the Ramadan season this year with the series Selat Rahm, which tackles injustices faced by women in Egyptian society. The diverse cast includes Asma Abulyazeid, Yousra Al Louzy, Mohamed Gomaa, Aly El Tayeb, Salwa Mohamed, and Safaa Galal.
After three years of absence, Jameela Awad returns to the Ramadan lineup with Ghada Adel in the new series, Lunch Box. The comedy series follows three housewives who form a gang that commits a variety of crimes to support their lifestyles. The cast includes Hesham Ismail, Ahmed Wafik, Fadwa Abed, and Amr Ramzy.
Alf Leila Wi Leila has been a Ramadan classic for years, but this year its regular host, Yasser Galal, uses a different approach, including its use of more advanced graphics and cinematography, in general. The cast includes Yasmine Raeis, Nour, Amr Abd El Guelil, Tara Emad, Ayten Amer and Wafaa Amer. The series narrates the story of the fisherman Judar (Yasser Galal) who gets into conflict with his brothers Salem and Selim after his father’s death while seeking wealth and fortune.
Lahzet Ghadab
(A Moment of Anger)
Saba Mubarak and Mohamed Shaheen are expected to dominate this Ramadan, with their new series Lahzet Ghadab. The show discusses the effects of anger on social lives, and how a split-second decision can have a significant impact on your life. The cast features a number of stars including Nardine Farag, Ali Kassem, Sara Abd El Rahman, and Mohamed Farid.
After being postponed for more than a year, the long-awaited series
Mouhareb starring Hassan El Raddad and Ahmed Zaher is being released this Ramadan. The series follows the challenges faced by a young middle-class man when he decides to become a microbus driver to make ends meet. The cast includes Nermeen Al Feky, Maged El Masry, and Menna Fadaly.
Akram Hosny joins the Ramadan season with a light comedy series centered around family. Baba Geh narrates the story of a hotel manager who struggles to maintain a balance between caring for his wife and daughter and his professional career. The cast includes Nesrine Amin, Sama Ibrahim, Feryal Youssef, Mahmoud El Bezawy, with Karim Fahmy as a guest of honor.
El Kebeer Awi (s8)

El Kebeer Awi has become a comedy classic with millions of fans in the Arab world anticipating each of its new seasons. Its eighth season picks up where it left off at the end of Season 7, including the debates between El Kebeer and his wife Marbouha and Johnny’s career development journey. It’s been confirmed that the original cast resuming their roles includes Mohamed Sallam, Rahma Ahmed, Hesham Ismail, Laila Ezz El-Arab, and Hatem Salah.
Khaled Nour Wa Waldo Nour Khaled
(Khaled Nour & His Son Nour Khaled)
Shiko and Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz join forces for the first time in the new Ramadan series, Khaled Nour Wa Waldo Nour Khaled. Given that this is Shiko’s first leading role without his usual partner in crime, Hesham Maged, audiences will be wondering if they’ll see the same chemistry between him and Abdel Aziz. The cast includes Aya Samaha, Sherif Ramzy, and Donya Maher.
