We can imagine how tough it must be for singers: going on stage and putting on a show. All those rehearsals, vocal and physical exercises, and the anxiety to say the least, must be exhausting. Too exhausting that by the time they get to the stage, they actually need to rest, and so, we understand why lip syncing was born. We feel for them, we really do, just as long as they don’t screw it up for us. We’ve all seen Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve disastrous performance at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, but don’t worry because there’s more! Here are some of the worst lip sync fails the stage has ever seen:

Justin Bieber – Opening night of the “Believe Tour” in Glendale, Arizona 2012
Justin was too busy getting sick on stage while his back up dancers continued their dance routine to his song. Bieber definitely got the fever, but this time, his fans didn’t.
Ashlee Simpson – SNL 2009
While promoting her new album on Saturday Night Live, something went terribly wrong with Ashlee Simpson’s performance and we still can’t explain what it was. To top it off, instead of awesomely easing her way back into the song, she danced her way off the stage with some ridiculously questionable dance moves.
Selena Gomez – Jingle Ball 2013
Selena Gomez’s awkward incident at Jingle Ball didn’t stop when her mic went off and she went ballistic on stage; she topped it off by dropping a curse bomb in the mic, not knowing it was back on.
Lady Gaga – Gwinnett Center, Atlanta in 2011
During Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” performance in 2011, she took a dramatic slip on stage, but that didn’t stop the song from continuing to excite her fans.
Katy Perry’s Flute Fail in 2011
Katy Perry has always been known to put on an entertaining show, especially when she showed the whole world that her never-ending talents do come to an end. After finishing her beautiful flute performance, Katy put down the instrument, but the recording kept playing. We’ll give her the hats off for handling it like a champ when she said, “So, apparently, I can’t play the flute.”
Mariah Carey – Essence Festival 2016
And once again, Mariah Carey proves that she’s basically done with hitting the high notes, maybe even with singing in general; she’s just letting her previous recording do the job for her.
