Karim Badawi was appointed Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in July 2024. Badawi is focused on exploration activities and discoveries, particularly in the Fayoum’s oil and gas field located in the King Mariout area, aiming to enhance Egypt’s petroleum and gas reserves. He also made significant efforts in narrowing the gap between the selling price and production costs of petroleum products. He noted that the gap for automotive fuels had decreased from 21-25% to 11-15%, while the diesel gap went from 42% to 31%.
