having studied art and sculpture at the Adham Ismail Fine Arts Institute in
Syria, Sulaf cut her teeth on the stage with impressive performances in Al-Sout (The
Voice) and Hekayat El-Shetaa (Winter’s Tales). Crediting the famous Syrian director Rimon
Butros as the man who discovered her, she first sashayed onto the big screen in the critically acclaimed Al-Terhal (The Departure). A slew of movies, TV dramas and comedies
followed, quickly making her one of the most sought after Arab actresses in the Middle East. Over the years she has won a host of accolades including the Best Actress Award at the Cairo Radio and Television Festival (twice!) and the Syrian Actors Association’s Best
Actress Award. In the meantime her famously flawless looks catapulted her onto billboards across the region as the beauty icon for leading shampoo Pantene. Yet she remains best known for her role as Jehan – the first and only love of legendary singer Abdel Halim Hafez – in the much acclaimed Halim (2006). It was a silver screen outing that turned her into a
