Isolation Boredom

How Celebrities Are Keeping Busy

We’re all bored out of our minds right now, understandably so. Quarantine, self-isolation and social distancing are putting a huge damper on all of our moods, and it’s doing so for some of our favourite celebrities as well. But instead of letting this bring them down, these celebrities have taken to social media to entertain themselves, and us as well while they’re at it. To do our part in entertaining our own audience, we gathered some of our favourite Arab celebrities and their fun activities that we’ve come across throughout this slow month.

Ahmed Helmy

Egypt’s king of comedy isn’t letting quarantine stop him. Although Ahmed Helmy and his wife, beloved actress Mona Zaki, always like to keep their home life private, Helmy has taken it upon himself to provide comedic content to his social media followers. The actor has kicked off an online series called Yawmeyat Helmy Fel Beet (Diaries of Helmy at Home) where he does fun and quirky home activities like cooking his favourite recipes, with funny and sarcastic comments to add a delightful touch to the video.

Reham Ayman & Sherif Ramzy

Power couple, Reham Ayman and Sherif Ramzy are making the most out of staying at home by participating in fun challenges and making comedic skits on Tiktok. Our favourite Tiktok of theirs so far is their yoga dance challenge, which the couple did in their backyard and almost completely nailed it. Tiktok has definitely been a big source of entertainment for a lot of people through these challenging times, and it’s nice to see the couple take part in the wacky trends.

The Dawood & Roshdy Family

Our favourite couple, Ola Roshdy and Ahmed Dawood and their charismatic children are taking social media by storm by partaking in Instagram challenges and Tiktok dances. The adorable family took turns putting their own spin on a viral dance in a Tiktok video, asking their audience “who did it best?” In another video, Roshdy and her daughter lipsynced to a scene from the sitcom Nelly & Sherihan. Roshdy also took to Instagram to post a picture of herself before and after glamming up, which was extremely relatable and totally hilarious.

Lara Scandar

Singer Lara Scandar is using her massive platform to spread awareness and encourage people to stay home and constantly wash their hands. The Who I Am singer posted a laid back picture of herself in her home on Instagram, holding a sign that says “Stay Safe, Wash Your Hands”. Scandar got some of her celebrity friends to help her spread awareness in the post by carrying the same poster, the big names included Tamer Hagras, Tara Emad and Sherine Arafa, among others.

Tameem Youness

Comedian and singer/producer Tameem Youness has taken this time of isolation to do what he does best: make us laugh and give us humorous catchy songs to dance along to. Youness took to Tiktok to show his audience how he, strangely enough, peels hardboiled eggs. Instead of just telling his audience how he peels the egg, however, he sang the tutorial, which resulted in the strangest, yet catchiest, lyrics. Youness also took a more serious musical route on Instagram by producing and covering some of Amr Diab’s iconic hits.

Mohamed Salah

Legendary football player Mohamed Salah, isn’t taking a break from breaking a sweat. The Liverpool F.C player took to Instagram to show off his at-home gym set up in the middle of one of his workouts. Like most of the people in the world right now, Salah is working from home, except his work is an actual workout… literally. We can’t wait to see the player back in the football field (still in shape) after all this blows over!

Raya Abirached

Raya Abirached is showing off a new side of herself during her quarantine at home; a playful side. The TV host showed off her at-home edition of her Flying like Raya series, except this time her guest star was her beautiful daughter. Abirached posted a picture of herself and her baby girl hopping on couch cushions and posing midair, encouraging fans to tag her in their own at home versions of Flying like Raya.

Ahmed Fahmy & Hannah El Zahed

Hilarious couple, Ahmed Fahmy and Hannah El Zahed took to Instagram to post a hilariously adorable picture of themselves in comfortable PJs and face masks accompanied by their cute puppy, who just like them, had his own face mask on. The acting couple shared the picture to advise their fans to stay home if they’re able to, in order to keep themselves and everyone around them safe.

Ahmed Magdy

Ahmed Magdy, on the other hand, is taking this time of self-isolation to self-reflect. The actor shared a thought provoking realisation about time and general hygiene on Instagram, detailing his thoughts throughout his first week of quarantine. Magdy shared his newfound appreciation of time and how it can be used best as an asset to better ourselves and make changes in our lives. Magdy invited fans to join him on his spiritual quest to respect time from here on out, and live every moment to its fullest.
