With only a few weeks of summer left, it is time to make the most of every last second of the season. But that doesn’t mean you have to escape to the North Coast every weekend. If you are stuck in the city, whatever the reason, here are a few things that you can do while everyone is still in vacation mode.
1. Brunch with friends
Towards the end of summer, a lot of people are normally returning from the North Coast to start getting back into their work-life routine. This makes it the perfect time to host a small brunch gathering with all your friends, whether at home indoors or in your garden. Get them to share in the cooking so you don’t have to do all the preparations alone or simply make it a bring your own dish brunch to celebrate the end of the summer with your nearest and dearest!
2. Binge a TV series like there’s no tomorrow
Summer is the perfect time to catch up with any TV series you’ve been dying to watch. Get to work because you have only 2 weeks left to watch that 20-episode series with over 5 seasons that you’ve been trying to make time for! With a constant array of the latest installments of old series, as well as brand new shows to watch, there is always something to keep you entertained. You’ll be able to stop pretending that you understand all the TV references that twitter and the whole office are talking about!
3. Go on a blind date with a book
Let’s be honest, you won’t be as free as you are right now for long, whether you are a college student, or working at the office that has never been emptier. Now’s a great time to catch up on your leisurely reading. Head to your local bookstore, or your favourite online store and make your selection. You might end up finding your next favourite author or discovering an unknown novel you can tell everyone about.
4. Sales, sales and more sales!
With one season ending and another approaching, a lot of stores have sales. Classics don’t go out of style. Grab them on sale now and keep them for next summer. One of the best things to buy during the sales are swimsuits because you’ll always need them, whether it’s an upcoming pool party or a weekend getaway.
5. Reorganize your closet
The end of summer is time to take stock of what’s been worn and what’s just been left hanging in the closet. Make it a point to reorganize your closet to decide what to keep and what to give away. Now, you’ll have the space you need for your new fall pieces!
6. Get fit
Are people frolicking in their swimsuits on the North Coast the only ones concerned with being fit? Actually, being stuck in Cairo should not mean spending the entire summer stuffing ourselves with food. You’ll feel a lot better about yourself if you spend at least an hour every day, preferably in the morning, at the gym. Next time you go shopping and try on your dream dress and it fits, you’ll thank yourself for the effort.
7. Do nothing
Very seriously, sit on your bed for hours on end and do absolutely nothing. Don’t even check your phone because Instagram has a habit of making anyone feel insecure. Just sit there and clear your mind of everything for a few hours. Summer is an opportunity to just clear your head without too many people around you and if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, then doing nothing should be a priority.
