Hisham Ezz El Arab returned as Chairman of CIB in 2022, having held the same post between 2002 and 2020. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming CIB into Egypt’s largest private-sector bank. Under his direction, CIB expanded its footprint, moving from a wholesale lender to an internationally recognised institution. His influence on profitability and sustainability has kept CIB at the forefront of the industry. In 2024, Ezz El Arab took on the additional role of CEO, following Hussein Abaza. CIB’s financials have thrived under his watch, with Q1 2024 profits rising 97% from the previous year, reaching EGP 11.9 billion, equivalent to EGP 3.50 per share.
