If you like seeing extravagance at it’s best, then fashion designer Hany El Behairy’s  FW2019 couture collection is it.

The Egyptian designer awed his audience at the Nile Ritz-Carlton last Monday when Nicole Saba stepped onto the runway wearing an astonishingly expensive diamond-encrusted dress, reportedly worth about EGP 200 million or $11 million. The dress took more than a year to complete and is “100% Made in Egypt”, explained the designer.

The show also included his latest evening wear collection, which he recently presented at the Paris Fashion Week. Models carried Egyptian hand embroidered evening clutches by Alicia Arts.

Front-row guests included Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly, actresses Safia El Emari, Lebleba, Ragaa El Geddawy, and many other socialites and influencers. Khaled Selim gave a special live performance of his most popular romantic songs. One of the show’s highlights was the grand entrance by Egypt’s most-loved satirical puppet Abla Fahita on a fairy tale carriage.
