In 2014, audiences across the Arab region were left feeling shocked and in awe by the thrilling first installment of the Egyptian drama-horror-mystery, El Feel El Azrak (The Blue Elephant), based on Ahmed Mourad’s book of the same name, published in 2012. Now the film’s team is back to give us a much-awaited part 2.
El Feel El Azrak was a great success for numerous reasons. Not only did acclaimed director Marwan Hamed push the boundaries of the genre and giving us a style of movie that is uncommon in Egypt, but the cast he chose was perfectly selected. The realism of the visual effects and the overall professionalism of the production also showed throughout. On top of that, the powerful and dynamic soundtrack composed by the one and only Hesham Nazih, added to the suspense and drew us wholly into the action. Most important of all, the book upon which the screenplay was based, was superbly written and had already captured the public’s imagination.
What’s exciting about part 2, scheduled to be released during Eid al Adha, is that it contains completely new characters that aren’t featured in the original novel, which means that there is a whole new adventure for us to discover.
Aside from the outstanding original cast from part 1, which includes Karim Abdel Aziz, Nelly Karim and the incomparable Khaled El Sawy, part 2 introduces two more iconic artists, Hend Sabri and Eyad Nassar, so our expectations are definitely high.
Adding to this star-studded list are the young artists Tara Emad, Tamer Hashem and your favorite social media comedian, Marwan Younes.
Now that we are in 2019, five years after the release of part 1, with so much progress having taken place in the cinema industry, we are expecting an even more spectacular and powerful movie. Watching the trailer, it already seems that part 2 is even more intense, visually attractive and mysterious than part 1. “Don’t be scared but be careful!”, the trailer’s slogan, is obviously adding to our excitement and anticipation!
This film will definitely be going on our must-watch list!
