This past year has been a big one for international stars visiting Egypt. Whether they came to soak in the vibrant culture, explore the history, attend film festivals or put on epic concerts, each celebrity brought some magic with them, and made memories in Egypt that will last a lifetime.

Mike Tyson’s Pharaonic Experience

Like the Mountain, Mike Tyson, the world-famous heavyweight boxer, was in Egypt to star in the Egyptian action movie Hamlet Far’on (Pharaoh’s Campaign). In between filming scenes, Tyson took the time to explore the city, and went on a trip to the Giza Pyramids accompanied by his wife, Kiki.

Triple Threat John Salley Spreads His Wisdom

American actor, producer and ex-NBA player, John Salley, visited Cairo in March to participate in the Cairo’s tenth Creative Industry Summit, where he imparted his advice to budding creatives in a keynote speech on Global Creativity, Innovation and Entertainment.

The Mountain visits the Pyramids

Most famous for playing the humongous guard, the Mountain, in Game of Thrones, Icelandic actor, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson visited Egypt earlier this year with his wife. Although he was mainly here for the filming of Raouf Abd El Aziz’s upcoming action movie Hamlet Far’on, Björnsson managed to make the most of his visit with a trip to the world famous Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids.

Rocking with the Red Hot Chili Peppers

With 10,000 people in attendance and the whole world watching online, this March the Californian funk-rock band gave us the show of the century, set directly in front of the Pyramids of Giza. Although they were only in Egypt for a short time, the band managed a quick trip to enjoy the sights.

Superstar Jason Derulo Sings His Heart Out

One of our favourite American singers, Jason Derulo, gave us a stellar night to remember, when he performed in Cairo alongside French DJ David Vendetta and Tamer Hosny. In addition to wowing us with his singing, we loved the pictures he snapped in front of the pyramids and the sphinx.

Van Damme Meets his Match

You may have seen Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme in Etisalat’s latest action-packed advert, alongside Mohamed Ramadan. Jovially teasing his co-star, Van Damme posted on his Instagram page, “Went all the way to Egypt to show Mohamed Ramadan who is the real number 1 when it comes to action!”. The dueling duo definitely gave us an ad to remember!

Owen Wilson’s Egyptian Exploration

The Gouna film festival was filled with international stars, but one of the most exciting guests was Owen Wilson. Not only did he visit the Red Sea town, he made the time to visit Cairo and experience some of the gems the city has to offer alongside Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.
