Eastern Bite

Serving Culture Through Exceptional Hospitality

“Eastern Bite” – an intriguing name for an LA-based business. Enigma’s Maher Shaker sat down with founder Maysa Hamed to discover how the business began, where her passion for hospitality comes from, and where she envisions the company in the years ahead.

From the very beginning, it was clear where Hamed’s passion is rooted. Her family has a long-standing history in hospitality and entrepreneurship, with experiences that have shaped her approach to food, service, and the art of creating memorable experiences. “Our family has a long history in hospitality and entrepreneurship. Twenty years ago, our family established Amena Café Restaurant in Las Vegas, a business built by my uncle Amer Hamed that became a foundation of our passion for food, service, and creating memorable experiences for guests.”

The family’s hospitality journey continued with Dr. Hookah, a premium hookah delivery and event service founded as another family venture by Hamed’s brother-in-law. “Those experiences shaped my appreciation for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and inspired me to build a business that shares our culture through exceptional food and hospitality,” Hamed explains.

Her words reflect the passion and cultural connection that ultimately inspired the creation of Eastern Bite. With such a strong foundation in hospitality, it was only natural to wonder how that expertise translates into preparing for large-scale and prestigious events. “Once we understand the purpose of the event, our team develops a customised catering plan. Everyone understands their role, allowing the event to run smoothly,” she explains.

Acknowledging that meticulous planning and attention to detail are essential to delivering a successful event, Hamed adds, “Prestigious events require months of planning and exceptional attention to detail.” Speaking of high-profile occasions naturally led the conversation to Hamed’s collaboration with Enigma Magazine. “Collaborating with Enigma Magazine is both an honour and an opportunity. We value this partnership because it allows us to showcase Middle Eastern hospitality at the highest professional level while building meaningful relationships within an inspiring community,” Hamed says.

Running a growing hospitality business in the United States, however, inevitably comes with its own set of challenges. Hamed acknowledges the demands of the industry, explaining, “Every event requires careful coordination. The catering industry is highly competitive, so staying ahead requires continuous innovation.” Technology, too, has become an increasingly important part of the business, helping Eastern Bite maintain efficiency while preserving the personal approach at the heart of its service “Technology has become essential to modern catering. Technology allows us to remain organised while maintaining the personal touch that defines Eastern Bite,” she explains.

When discussing the company’s mission, vision, and philosophy, Hamed’s answers are clear and purposeful. “Our mission is to deliver authentic Middle Eastern cuisine with world-class hospitality while creating unforgettable experiences for every client. Our vision is to become a nationally recognised brand known for excellence, innovation, and cultural authenticity. Our philosophy is simple: every meal tells a story, and every event deserves perfection.”

Looking ahead, Hamed has an ambitious vision for Eastern Bite and the next chapter of its journey. “We envision Eastern Bite expanding across multiple states, opening new concepts, serving major international events, and becoming one of America’s leading names in premium Middle Eastern catering and hospitality.”

As the business continues to evolve, its core philosophy remains unchanged: exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and unforgettable experiences that bring people together.
