With the month of love upon us, you may be wondering what your favourite stars think about Valentine’s Day and romance in general. eniGma’s Shereen Kamal and Engy Aly chatted with some of Egypt’s hottest celebrities on what Valentine’s Day means to them.
Hend Sabry:
“Love is the greatest gift; the most precious and the most powerful weapon against the cruelty of the world. Let’s give it the value it deserves… Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Razan:
“Love makes you whole. It completes your existence and motivates you to become a better person. That’s why I don’t really make a big issue on Valentine’s Day. I have three hundred and sixty-five days to be in love.”
Boshra:
“Although I’m a person who appreciates romance, I still think that Valentine’s Day is overrated. We need love every day and every minute, not only on one particular day. I believe that’s why there’s a lot of hatred in the world… it’s because love is celebrated only one day a year!”
Amr Youssef:
“Some years I even forget it’s Valentine’s Day. It just so happens that one of my friends’ birthday is on the 14th of February so I might end up celebrating with them. Other than that, there’s no one in my life at the moment.”
Mais Hamdan:
“Love sucks and it doesn’t exist anymore. I’ve been searching for years now and I can’t find it but let’s hope for the best. Maybe this year will bring some of the love I’ve been dreaming of. I’m persistent even though it’s difficult to find love nowadays, but God is great!”

Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love is the only thing in this world that covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt.”
Reham Haggag:
“I believe we fall in love by chance and stay in love by choice. Personally, I prefer a fancy dinner, I don’t like flowers, and my favourite Valentine’s gift is a bag.”

“Every year on Valentine’s Day, I get my wife flowers and a present. Although I’m not really into teddy bears and big red hearts, I do appreciate any day where we get to celebrate our love and forget about our problems.”

“For me, love is everything. It doesn’t have to be between two lovers, it can be love for your family, your friends, your country, etc. As for Valentine’s Day, I don’t care about the flowers and the gifts as much as I enjoy the feeling of a day dedicated entirely for love.”

“I don’t mean to sound bitter but I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day. It just never really meant anything to me. Grand gestures on just one day don’t change anything. It’s the little unexpected random acts of love that get to me.”
Ahmed Hatem:
“Valentine’s Day doesn’t exist for me. I’m not saying it’s overrated, but it just has its own crowd which I’m not part of. Apart from that, I do believe that love is everything, and that it is the ultimate end goal.”
