Since launching his photography studio in 2014, Beshoy Selim has risen to prominence as one of L.A.’s top wedding photographers, celebrated for his ability to beautifully capture the most unforgettable moments. As the official photographer for Enigma’s 13th Celebration of Arab Glamour & Success in Beverly Hills, Selim surpassed our expectations with his breathtaking array of photographs and videos that perfectly captured the essence of our stars and guests enjoying the evening. Enigma’s Farida Elserty had the chance to chat with the talented photographer about his passion for the craft and to uncover the inspiring journey that has led him to the top of his field.
For Beshoy Selim, photography has always been about more than beautiful images. It is about capturing emotions, preserving memories and telling stories without words. More than 12 years ago, what began as a personal passion gradually became his purpose and professional career. “I was fascinated by the power of photography and how one image could tell an entire story without a single word,” he says.
Over the years, Selim’s dedication has earned him significant international recognition. He was named the International Photography Awards’ Best International Wedding Photographer in the World for 2024, recognised as the #1 Middle Eastern Wedding Photographer in the USA for three consecutive years, 2024, 2025 and 2026, and selected by Wezoree as one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in Los Angeles. “These achievements mean so much to me, but they also inspire me to continue growing and creating something exceptional for every couple who trusts me with their wedding,” he says.
Growing up within a culture deeply rooted in family, tradition, celebration and emotion, Selim sees weddings as stories that extend far beyond the bride and groom. “Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures are deeply connected to family, tradition, celebration, love, and strong emotions,” he explains. “I do not only photograph the bride and groom; I pay attention to the entire family and the story surrounding them.”
His photography style combines “luxury editorial imagery, cinematic storytelling, and authentic emotion”, creating photographs that feel both artistic and personal. Over time, his work has become increasingly refined and timeless. “I have learned that the strongest photograph is not always the most complicated one,” he reflects. “Sometimes beautiful light, real emotion, and a simple composition can create the most unforgettable image.”
Communication is equally important to his process. Before every wedding, Selim takes the time to understand his clients’ personalities, culture, style and vision. “I want my couples to feel that they are working with someone who truly understands them, not simply someone who will arrive on the wedding day with a camera,” he explains.
After photographing more than a thousand weddings, some of his most memorable moments remain the quiet ones. He recalls photographing a bride and her father shortly before he walked her down the aisle. “It only lasted a few seconds, but the photograph captured the love and connection they had shared throughout her life,” he recalls. “Experiences like that remind me that wedding photography is about preserving moments that may never happen again.”
Looking ahead, Selim hopes to expand his influence beyond photography. One of his biggest upcoming projects is an ambitious Middle Eastern Bridal Expo in the United States, bringing together leading wedding professionals, designers, planners, photographers, venues, entertainers, beauty experts and luxury brands. He is also preparing to host photography workshops covering everything from lighting and posing to storytelling, branding, business and client experience. “My goal is to share the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my career and help the next generation of photographers discover their talent and build successful careers,” as per Selim.
