History was made as Enigma Magazine partnered with the prestigious Golden Globes from Hollywood to host a spectacular tribute event honouring the rich legacy of Arab cinema and television in Cairo, Egypt.
The evening celebrated two legendary icons of Egyptian cinema and television, Hussein Fahmy and Youssra, who were honoured with the inaugural Omar Sharif Award.
The awards were presented by Helen Hoene, President of the Golden Globes, who travelled to Cairo for the prestigious gala dinner at the Nile Ritz-Carlton. The evening was emceed by the glamorous Egyptian TV host Jasmine Zaki, with opening remarks from actress Amina Khalil, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration of Arab cinema.
The first Omar Sharif Award recipient, Yousra, was honoured by Egyptian star Nelly Karim, who praised her groundbreaking career and lasting influence on Arab cinema. The second recipient, Hussein Fahmy, was presented with the award by critically acclaimed Egyptian actor Khaled El Nabawy, who reflected on Fahmy’s immense contributions to the Egyptian film industry.
The evening also featured two spectacular live performances. Abu, the Egyptian superstar, invited Yousra to the stage to perform their famous duet, Talat Daqat. Later, one of the hottest performers in the Middle East today, Ahmed Saad, dazzled guests with some of his most popular hits.
The event drew an impressive array of Arab stars in support of the Golden Globes’ presence in Cairo, including legendary actress Laila Eloui, Tunisian superstar Dorra, and Egyptian luminaries Mahmoud Hemeida, Elham Shaheen, Safeya El Emary, Injy El Mokkadem, and Ahmed Dawood, Hana Shiha, Mohamed Farrag, Nahed El Sebai, and Dalia El Behery.
