As we prepared for eniGma’s cover shoot this month, we needed to find a location that was fancy, luxurious and fabulous, but simultaneously having a homey and cosy feel. To our delight, the Ahmed Hussein Designs showroom and headquarters in Cairo fit the bill beautifully. The showroom was set in calming colours and unusually for an office space, it included a large living area adorned with a beautiful cosy fireplace. Additionally, there was a a very attractive fully equipped kitchen where the staff could prepare meals during their breaks. The idea of this luxurious yet cosy showroom was brilliant. Designer Ahmed Hussein, the ultimate designer, was telling a design story through his beautiful headquarters…
The designer himself explained the concept, “It all starts with an idea. There’s no recipe for a perfect office or a perfect home, but there’s always a chef who’s brave enough to try new ingredients every time; and I like to do the cooking myself. This space is a story of places, people and imagination,” explains Hussein, adding, “Interior design is very personal, and all those who walk into your office have their own fantasy of how they would like their home to be. That’s why I made sure to create an office that feels like home. With the living room and kitchen occupying 20% of the space, my guests can find inspiration during a meeting and point at something and say, ‘There, that’s what I want.’”
“This space was an underground basement that was transformed to a beautiful warm workspace, a space that welcomes original ideas and new concepts. This is what we stand for and this is the way we design.
