Writing about Wagih Mansour is an ambitious undertaking. Any eulogy- no matter how well articulated- can never do this force of life justice. Mansour was in every way larger than life. His kindness, compassion, strength, humility, generosity and humour were hallmarks of this wonderful soul. One could spend pages writing to honour his journey, and would only have scratched the surface of a life lived to its fullest. With his heart and dynamic spirit impacting everyone he met, no matter how many stories shared, there will always be something left unmentioned, a heart-warming detail remembered as life goes on.
Wagih Mansour was a multifaceted, well-travelled and sophisticated man. He was a clever businessman, a smooth diplomat, an Egyptian ‘Jacques Cousteau,’ and a compassionate animal lover, all in one. Then there’s his unique and passion for boats, yachts, and cars, that will continue to stand out as testaments of his taste and appreciation for the finer pleasures in life.
Mansour’s life was rooted in overcoming adversity. After a short stay in Kuwait, where he met his wife and life-long companion Rita Beuyukian, he moved to Abu Dhabi where he not only started a family that would become the throbbing heart in his life story, but simultaneously witnessed the birth of the United Arab Emirates and participated in its evolution and growth through multiple businesses and social functions.
An adventurous soul who enjoyed challenges and risks as well as the simple pleasures in life, Mansour was perfectly at ease with everyone. He embodied the ideal of a generous patriarch; a doting, caring, attentive and loving father and husband. He lives on in our memories and his voice rings loud and clear in our every step. May Wagih Mansour’s mantra in life live on as part of a legacy of grace and goodness: “It is nice to be important–but it is more important to be nice.” May his soul rest in eternal light and peace.
