Alaa El-Din Farouk has served as Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation since July 2024. Before his ministerial appointment, he chaired the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt from 2020. He served as Vice President of the Branches Sector at the National Bank of Egypt. His tenure has been marked by key achievements in international trade expansion, infrastructure modernisation, and bilateral investment growth. He has played a pivotal role in raising Egypt’s total agricultural exports to an unprecedented 7.5 million tonnes, up about 650,000 tonnes year-on-year, driven by enhanced competitiveness, strict compliance with quality standards among national farmers, and proactive expansion into new international markets.
