Dr. Maya Morsy has served as Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity since July 2024. She previously served as President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) from 2016 to 2024, alongside extensive leadership roles within UN Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Under her leadership, the Ministry of Social Solidarity is actively modernising Egypt’s social safety nets by rolling out a comprehensive National Social Protection Framework, expanding the Takaful and Karama cash transfer program, and driving extensive economic empowerment and digital safety initiatives for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
