Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar was appointed Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population in August 2022. He has achieved significant milestones in 2026 across public health, international recognition and national healthcare expansion. During his tenure, a 2026 World Health Organisation (WHO) report reaffirmed Egypt’s position as a global model and the first country to achieve gold-tier status for eliminating Hepatitis C as a public health threat. Under his leadership, nearly 15 health initiatives have been launched, and more than 278.5 million medical services have been delivered nationwide, including the 100 Million Healthy Lives campaign.
