Mohamed Diab is an Egyptian filmmaker and the lead director of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight. Before entering filmmaking, Diab had a background in business, but his passion for storytelling and addressing societal issues led him to a career in cinema. He made his directorial debut with Cairo 678 (2010), a critically acclaimed film that tackled the issue of sexual harassment in Egypt. Diab’s work on Moon Knight marked an important step in diversifying the perspectives in mainstream superhero media. He brought authenticity to the portrayal of Egypt, avoiding Hollywood’s stereotypical representations, offering instead a nuanced and respectful depiction of the country’s culture and history. His upcoming project, according to IMDb, is a thriller titled Leap, written by Ben Ripley.
