Kamel Al-Wazir was appointed Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Affairs and Minister of Transportation in 2024, following his tenure as Minister of Transportation since March 2019. He has made significant progress in enhancing the country’s industrial and transportation sectors, including strengthening ties with American firms, including Wabtec (formerly GE), to upgrade Egypt’s railway infrastructure, resulting in improved traction power, passenger services, and schedule punctuality through the supply and refurbishment of locomotives.
