Going to a spa has always been a great way to destress, and thankfully Cairo now has more spas than ever before. Nev Spa & Wellness is one of Cairo’s most sought out spas where you can spend hours pampering yourself and relaxing. Founded by Nevine El-Hady last year, Nev Spa offers a holistic approach to wellbeing with an array of services ranging from an assortment of massages down to a menu of healthy meals, all aimed at making you feel your very best. eniGma’s Ezz Al-Turkey sat down with El-Hady to discuss the spa’s philosophy, its services and how it prioritises self-care and the mental wellbeing for her clients.
evine El-Hady has had an extensive career with a spa management company since 2010, after she graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University. A year after graduation, she did a certificate at the renowned Glion university in Switzerland, where she got inspired by the best spas & wellness retreats. She loved her work and especially interacting with clients and guiding them to achieve their goals in health and wellbeing. Her dedication to her work was always paramount, so much so, that when she was blessed with her baby daughter, she still successfully balanced motherhood with running resort spas in Sharm El Sheikh and Marsa Alam, which she loved. ”I had to travel around a lot, and, of course, doing that while having a newborn baby wasn’t easy. I would bring my baby along when I travelled to places like Marsa Allam, and would have to change her diapers and feed her at the office! It was hard, but I was determined to manage successfully. With the help of my family and my husband, I was able to reach where I am today,” she recounts.
For a long time, El-Hady dreamt of starting the first holistic day spa in Cairo, and she continued working at her dream until she made it a reality. In early 2020, Nev Spa & Wellness opened its doors at Cairo Festival City Mall.
You can expect more than fabulous Thai massages at Nev Spa. The spa offers services like yoga, Turkish baths, Moroccan hammam, Jacuzzi, sauna, as well as float therapy for the first time in Egypt. The spa is also equipped with a beautiful Wellness Lounge, where an abundance of delicious sugar free and gluten free options are on offer. The spa’s services are aimed at nurturing mental health as well as physical being through a series of monthly workshops led by health and wellness professionals on a wide range of subjects. As a special for Mother’s Day, Nev Spa is offering a workshop for mothers and daughters, as well as group massages and services for mothers and daughters to enjoy together. “Going to a spa not only makes you feel good physically, but mentally as well,” says El-Hady. “Eating healthy also plays a major role, which is why we offer that at Nev. We want clients to unwind and feel at ease, not only at the spa, but after they leave too!” she adds.
While Nev Spa has the potential to franchise, El-Hady isn’t keen on that. She’s passionate about what she has going right now, and wouldn’t change it for the world. She notes that when she worked with the spa management company, her clients were mostly foreigners, however, most of her clients now are Egyptian regulars who quickly become friends of the spa. “I love that we know each and every client individually and get to create a tailored experience to them. Of course, I would love to open a few more branches, but I think that if we open too many, Nev will lose its essence. I think we have a really special thing going and I want to keep it that way.”
