5 Free Apps to Help You Organise Your Life

If you’re someone who writes down a to-do-list then somehow loses the paper, or even your entire notebook, we’ve got just the thing to help you out. Given that these days we are all glued to our phones, whether we are at work, at home, or out and about, we suggest that you turn your addiction to your cell phone into something productive. So go ahead and ditch the handwritten lists and use your phone to stay organised!

We’ve tried using the following apps to see how they would help us stay organised, and so far, they’re working pretty well for us. So unless you manage to lose your phone, they should work pretty well for you too!

1. SomNote

Having an organisational app is one thing, using it is another. Part of the appeal of SomNote is its use of colours, its layout and the extent you can personalise it to be your very own. It’s basic and can be whatever you need it to be.

First off, create as many labeled folders as you need. If you need this app for your job, you can divide your folders into meetings, tasks, important emails etc.. If you are a student, you can divide your folders into the classes you take. All of these notes can have pdfs and pictures attached too!

2. Todoist

Although less colourful, Todoist is perfect for anyone who has too many things that can’t even be categorised into folders. When you download the app and log in, you’ll find ‘Today’ and ‘Next 7 Days,’ where you can just haphazardly add reminders of everything you need to do throughout the day or throughout the next seven days as the need arises.

If things start to fall into place in your life, you still have the option of categorising tasks. Let’s say you’ve decided to add a fitness routine to your week, you can add a ‘fitness’ folder, pick a colour for it and add everything you need to do.

3. MinimaList

Sometimes colours and too many features can be a distraction all of their own. All black and white, MinimaList, takes after its name with its simplicity. You don’t have to worry about what colour to choose for your folders, and you won’t be overthinking the order you place your tasks in.

When you download the app, you can easily add tasks and once you do, they’ll just turn up on you screen with an alert. Once you’re done, swipe right to mark the task as complete or swipe left to delete it. It’s that simple!

4. Done

Sometimes all you need is to focus on one basic task. Whether you want to make sure you get up every single morning at 8 am to go for a jog, or simply to refrain from putting a single spoon of sugar in your coffee ever again, Done is the perfect app for you.

All you have to do is add the ‘habit’ or ‘goal’ you need to achieve and select how many days a week you need to achieve it, with a set reminder. We wouldn’t say this app is suitable for taking notes during meetings, but it is super helpful for anyone who wants to be reminded of something that needs to be done on a daily basis.

5. PlannerPro

And a pro it is! If a literal calendar can’t fix your procrastination, then quite honestly, nothing will. Alongside the reminders feature, you can add as many events, tasks and notes onto one day as you like.

What’s special here is that there is an element of documentation with this app. A lot of apps just delete a task once it is done, but Planner Pro keeps a record so that you can search an old task in the search bar and easily find it. But of course, work-related tasks are better off forgotten so maybe you’ll want to just delete them anyway?
