Your Guide To Ramadan’s Hottest New TV Shows

Harb Ahleya (Civil War)

This upcoming family drama stars our icon, Youssra, and revolves around family members seeking revenge from one another. The plot is centered around a mother forced to abandon her daughter at a young age. The cast includes several young stars like Jamila Awad and Cynthia Khalifa; while Sameh Abdelaziz, who previously worked with Youssra on Kheyanet Ahd (Ahd’s Affair), is the director. 

El-Ekhteyar 2: Regal El-Zel (The Choice 2: Shadow Men)

Directed by Peter Mimi, the second season of the hit show El-Ekhteyar is set to star the iconic actors Karim Abdelaziz and Ahmed Mekky. The show follows the journey of two policemen fighting for justice. It also includes a brand new cast of talented actresses such as Enjy El Mokkadem and the rising star Asmaa Abu El Yazeed.

Lahm Ghazal (Gazelle’s Meat)

After years of being away from TV shows, Ghada Abdel Razek is coming back with a brand new drama this Ramadan. Directed by Mohamed Osama, the show explores the life of an Egyptian family in one of Egypt’s lower-class residential areas. The cast includes Sherif Salama and Mohamed Adel.

Bayn El Samaa W El Ard (Between
Heaven & Earth)

Hany Salama and Dorra star in a show based on Nagib Mahfouz’s popular novel. Directed by Mohamed Gamal El Adl, the story takes place in an elevator that is stuck for some time, and dives deep into the lives of the characters. We get to know each of their stories and how their lives become intertwined after their experience. Other stars in the series include Sawsan Badr and Ahmed Bedeir.

El Nemr (The Tiger)

Although the plot of the show is still unannounced, this new series stars Mohamed Emam. We aren’t sure what to expect with Emam’s humorous personality. Directed by Shereen Adel and written by Mohamed Salah El Azab, it also features prominent names such as Nermeen El Feqy and Hannah El Zahed.

Ded El Kasr (Unbreakable)

The new Nelly Karim drama will revolve around the marital problems between the protagonist and her husband who demeans her character and has problems respecting her. The show features Tara Emad and Mostafa Darwish and is written by Amr El Daly. This is Nelly Karim’s first collaboration with director Ahmed Khaled.

Nasl El-Aghrab (Spawn of The Strangers)

The two stars Ahmed El Sakka and Amir Karara star in this thrilling drama as friends who turn into enemies. The plot revolves around a man wrongfully accused of murder who goes to jail and when he comes out, finds his wife married to his friend. The series is written and directed by Mohamed Samy and features Mai Omar and Edward, among other celebrity stars.

Fares Bela Gawaz (Knight Without a Bride)

As a complete surprise to his audience, Mostafa Amar announced that he will be starring in a comedy show this Ramadan. The show takes the form of separate episodes with different plots, each revolving around Amar’s search for a wife. The show is directed by Moataz Hussam and stars Bushra and Mohamed Tharwat.

El Qahera Kabul (Cairo Kabul)

El Qahera Kabul is a gripping thriller that takes place in Cairo and revolves around terrorist groups who target the city over the last few years. Tarek Lotfy plays a member of a terrorist group, alongside Fathy Abdelwahab and Khaled El Sawy. Together, the three make for an interesting mix of characters combining good and evil at the same time. The show is written by Abdelkarim Kamal and directed by Hussam Ali.

El Malek (THEKING)

Based on Nagib Mahfouz’s novel, El Malek is about the 18th dynasty Pharaoh who freed Egypt from the Hyksos. The historical show is packed with stars, including Amr Youssef, Saba Mubarak and Maged El Masry – who play major roles. The series is directed by Hussein El Menabawy and written by Sherine and Khaled Diab.


From the director of the hit show Rahim and Naseeby W Qesmetek (My Fate and Your Destiny), Mohamed Salama is striking once again this Ramadan with Moussa. Starring Mohamed Ramadan, Farida Saif El Nasr and Tara Emad, Moussa looks like the new action packed series of the season.

Naguib Zahy Zarkash

The series starring veteran actor Yehya El Fakharany and directed by none other than the actor’s son – Shady El Fakharany, will be one of the comedic contenders of this Ramadan season. The show revolves around the life of a lawyer and his journey with his four sons. It stars many young actors like Hana Marzooq and Karim Afify.

Zel Ragel (A Man’s Shadow)

Another thrilling drama, Zel Ragel, is being released this Ramadan, starring Yasser Galal. The show discusses social issues occurring in Egypt, while simultaneously exploring the character’s individual stories and journeys. Directed by Ahmed Saleh, it also features Nermeen El Feqy and Mahmoud Abd El Moghny.

Elle Maloosh Kbeer (Uncontrollable)

This romantic drama once again brings together Yasmine Abdelaziz and her husband Ahmed El Awady as a couple on the small screen. The series revolves around a young woman forced to marry an older man and follows her emotional struggles till she not only finds herself but also finds love. The series is directed by Mostafa Fekry and has a variety of actors including Khaled El Sawy.

Ebn El Andal (Bastards)

After the success of his show last Ramadan, Ahmed Zaher will be starring in his own show this year. Although the show is still under production and not many details have been released regarding its plot and genre, it is safe to assume that, after his impeccable performance in El Prince last year, his new show will be a hit.

W Kol Ma Neftere
(Every Time We Part)

In this new series, Reham Hagag plays two roles simultaneously – of twin sisters with polar opposite personalities. Due to their differences both characters will face conflicts. making for a drama tinged with some thrilling themes. The show is directed by Kareem El Adl and is still under production.

Qasr El Nile

In this thriller directed by Khaled Marei, Dina El Sherbiny plays the role of a widow whose circumstances forced her to marry her late husband’s brother. Following their marriage, problems arise and the show revolves around the challenges she faces and how she overcomes them. Stars like Reham Abd El Ghafoor and Sabry Fawaz act alongside El Sherbiny in this Khaled Marei directed production.

Hagma Mortada (Counter Attack)

The series starring Ahmed Ezz and Hend Sabry was supposed to air in Ramadan 2020 but was put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. Now filmed and ready to be released, the show will air this Ramadan. According to Ezz, the plot is based on an Egyptian patriot’s true story and will follow the theme of other patriotic productions such as El Mamar (The Passageway).

Li’bet Newton (Newton’s Game)

Starring Mona Zaki and Mohamed Mamdouh, the show revolves around a broken marriage that eventually leads the wife to leave and travel abroad. This will be Zaki’s return to the small screen after four years since she starred in Afrah El Qoba (Wedding Song). The romantic drama is written and directed by Tamer Mohsen and includes a number of talented actors such as Mohamed Farrag and Sayed Ragab.

Khali Balak Men Zizi (Take Care of Zizi)

Khali Balak Men Zizi’s filming kicked off earlier this year. The show is starring Amina Khalil and Mohamed Mamdouh. This isn’t the first time they act together in a Ramadan show as the two were previously on Qabil in 2019 and La Totfe’ El Shams (The Sun Doesn’t Dim) in 2017. The series is directed by Karim El Shenawy and written by Mona El Shimy.

Mulok El Gad’ana (Kings of Loyalty)

Starring Amr Saad and Mostafa Shaaban, and directed by Ahmed Khaled, Mulok El Gad’ana is about a close friendship between two men who eventually fall out due to their circumstances. It is said that Rania Youssef has also joined the show with a lead role. Saad is set to appear in a completely new look, that is yet to be revealed.


As expected, Youssef El Sherif, is starring in yet another gripping science fiction piece this Ramadan that we can’t wait to watch – as El Sherif always surprises us. Directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and written by none other than Engy Alaa, Covid-25 follows the journey of a doctor trying to find a vaccine for the dangerous virus. Starring alongside El Sherif, are Iten Amer and Mohamed Adel.

Zay El Beit El Wa’af (Stuck)

Another gripping drama airing this Ramadan is Zeina’s Zay El Beit El Wa’af, which revolves around marital and family relationships and struggles. We don’t know what to expect from Zeina as she always takes on different personas. Directed by Essam Abdelhamid the series also stars Ahmed El Saadany and Sabrin.

Bent El Sultan (The Sultan’s Daughter)

This dramatic thriller will be Rogena’s first time starring in her own TV series. The series revolves around an entanglement of relationships and the connections between the different characters. Directed by Ahmed Shafiq and written by Ayman Salama, the cast also stars Ahmed Magdy, Bassem Samra and Sawsan Badr.
