And with the rise of the digital world over the past decade or two, these celebrities have learnt how to use social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to connect with their fans while also promoting their brands. But while it may seem easy, even a mega-famous celeb with a big fan base actually finds quite hard to succeed in today’s competitive world of beauty and fashion. Here are some of the biggest names that successfully left their mark in the fashion and beauty world despite the difficulties.
Fenty Beauty is the reason why Rihanna is the richest musician in the world right now. The famous singer used her status to launch her own beauty brand, Fenty Beauty, in 2017. Thanks to the brand’s inclusiveness across skin tones, body shapes and gender, it quickly became a fan favorite and its sales skyrocketed. Soon after the huge success of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna launched her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty, in 2018. The line is designed to fit women of every shape and size.
Selena Gomez (Rare Beauty)
The former Disney star is the latest celeb to launch her own beauty brand, Rare Beauty, in 2019. The singer/actress revealed that what makes her cosmetic line stand out is that the entire makeup collection is vegan and cruelty free. The brand also is helping the community by launching the Rare Impact Fund to raise money to increase access to mental health services. “Our goal with the Rare Impact Fund is to raise an ambitious $100 million over the next 10 years to help increase access to mental health resources,” stated the star.
Drew Barrymore (Flower Beauty)
Drew Barrymore launched Flower Beauty in 2013 saying, “I’ve been in a makeup chair since I was six years old, and had the fortune of working with the icons of the beauty industry.” The cruelty free brand kept growing ever since its launch, and in 2018, the brand collaborated with Ulta, releasing a wide range of new products, from makeup products to beauty tools and even fragrances.
Lady Gaga (Haus Labs)
The mother monster herself has finally launched her inclusive beauty line, called Haus Labs, on Amazon Prime day in 2019. Gaga’s main target with her line is to create easy-to-use everyday makeup products. According to the company, its mission is to spread kindness, bravery and creativity by providing tools for self-expression and reinvention.
Kylie Jenner (Kylie Cosmetics)
The youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan launched her cosmetic empire, Kylie Cosmetics, back in 2015. The social media darling started her brand with a simple lip kit that sold out when it first came out. Kylie Cosmetics now includes an entire range of makeup products, and includes skincare products as well. At age 23, Jenner is already a billionaire, and the richest young lady not only in her family, but also in the world, according to Forbes.

With the launch of her fashion line “Jessica Simpson collection” in 2005, the pop princess transitioned into a business mogul. Her line has grown over the past decade to include clothes and accessories, turning her company into a lifestyle empire hauling in about $1 billion in annual sales. Jessica Alba (Honest Company)
After the birth of her first child, in 2011 the actress-turned-entrepreneur was inspired to start Honest, a company producing clean baby products. Honest’s huge success, later prompted Alba to expand her brand to include a makeup line and home cleaning products. In 2017, the company was valued at 1.7 billion dollars.
Gwyneth Paltrow (Goop)
Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow started her brand, Goop, back in 2008 as a weekly newsletter providing new age advice. We all remember the “conscious uncoupling” statement that she used to describe her divorce from ex-husband Chris Martin! The brand has since expanded to include beauty products, candles and a clothing line. In 2019, the company’s estimated net worth was a cool $250 million.

From full house to a household name, former child stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen own, not one, but two successful clothing lines – The Row, established in 2006, and Elizabeth and James in 2007. The twins had such a huge impact on the fashion industry that they were named “Womenswear Designer of the Year,” by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for The Row in 2012, then again in 2015. The CFDA also named the twins “Accessories Designer of the Year” in 2014 for their work with The Row.

Gwen Stefani, the lead vocalist for the rock band, “No Doubt,” created her fashion line, L.A.M.B., in 2004. Named after the initials of her first solo album titled Love. Angel. Music.
